What to expect on this tour

Our air conditioned van will be at your hotel between 08:00 – 08:30. Our friendly guide welcomes you and we set off to the first destination on the list: Phuping palace. This palace is the winter residence of the Thai Royal family. The location is outside Chiang Mai city in the mountains. The temperatures here are generally lower and the atmosphere is more moist, which makes it a perfect place to get through the Thai winter. It is also known as Bhubing palace and getting there means a scenic ride up the forested mountains. The road can be steep and windy at times, but our experienced drivers know exactly how to master it!

We have a look at the gardens on top and our guide will tell you more about the structure and what it means to the Thai people. We stay here around 1 hour before we move on to the next stop: Doi Suthep. Our van takes you to the top of the mountain. On the way you will have beautiful panoramic views over the city, but you can save your camera for the top, where we vist the temple: Wat Phra Doi Suthep.

To get to the temple, there are 2 options. If you feel reasonably fit, you can walk the 300 steps to the temple. Be sure to take a few moments to breathe on the way as it is a rather steep climb. The other option is to take the covered cable car. Sit down and enjoy the views while the cable is pulled to the top. It should take no more than a few minutes to get there. On the top, our guide will explain about the temple and show you its details.

You will see beautiful flowers, Buddha statues and monks chanting in the temple. The best part of the Doi Suthep tour is the view: walk onto the terrace and see Chiang Mai from way above! You will see the old city with its characteristic narrow streets and the airport where airplanes come and go. Be sure to bring a camera because this is the kind of panorama you want to keep for later!
